July 25 – Day 84 Pack Creek area ----- Farewell to Shawn
Up early - Momma bear and cubs are out on the beach as is the loner bear. The cubs are running around and one was standing up and jumping on mom. She put up with it for a bit but then must have said something to it, because it ran about three steps away and then sat down for a bit. Time out again? Then started to just dig and eat like its sibling.
This mornings, project is to pack up a box of fish to send home with Shawn, to reduce the amount in our boat freezers. It has been fun having Shawn with us. He, Josh, and Kimberly fly by float plane to Juneau and then have several hours there before flying back to Seattle. It's also been fun having Josh and Kimberly in the flotilla's adventures this past week. They've seen icebergs, glaciers, bears, crab, halibut, salmon, deer, sea lions, eagles and other birds, rocks, waterfalls, had sunny skies, gray skies, and rain taken hikes and just walked the beach. Shawn even walked on an iceberg. What more could they ask for? Okay they did not see a moose.
There are two sets of bear families on the beach. Momma and two big cubs (last years kids) and another Momma and two much smaller cubs (this years kids).

Their plane came 30 minutes early, when does that happen? <grin> it happens when the incoming guest get to the airport early and the pilot says okay we are ready let's go. <grin> We said our good-byes and our hello's.
When we got back to the big boats Josh called to say that they had all made it to the Juneau airport.
And they are off! Those dots on the beach are brown bear.
We went over closer to the beach, but not too close to get some photos and video of the two bear families, and to let Carl and Cheryl see some bear so they'd know what to look for on future beaches.

We headed out toward Hobart Bay for our next adventure. In route I spotted 5 deer on the beach. Later on we saw a row of about 8+ Humpbacks in the distance, they looked to be heading toward Tracey Arm. We saw a couple more, closer to us. Oh, and it didn't rain today, in fact the sun came out.
Inner Hobart Bay is a pretty place, and the sun is out.
We had a Halibut dinner with an amazing salad with lots of fresh veggies from the Stork's garden.
Note – they brought 5 large boxes of food with them. It looked like they had gone to Costco, a farmers market, their own vegetable garden, and maybe even a bakery.
