July 14 – Day 74 Happy Anniversary to Steve and Michelle – Leaving Glacier Bay
We headed to Bartlett Cove and the park headquarters today. Since we did not stop there on the way into Glacier Bay we want to stop in today to see what may have changed and snag a minute or two of internet time for uploads and downloads. Also want to go see the 'long house/clan house' that was being built in 2016 when we were here. At that time, it was not open to the public but one of the totem carvers gave us a sneak peek tour. It was beautiful and we hope to see fully completed today. It opened in September 2016. Since then, several new totems have been put up.
Saw a few whale in route, once had a Humpback to our port and at the same time a lone Orca to our starboard. Neither very close or doing any tricks.
South Mable island was fun as usual. It is inhabited by hundreds of critters: Sealions, Sea Otters, Sea gulls or several types, Cormorants, Pigeon Guillemot, and Puffins.

m/v Tonic was at anchor in the harbor at Bartlett Cove. Brian and Steve were on the dock ready to greet us and catch our lines. We spent the next 3 hours (the time allotted to be at the dock) visiting the lodge with its museum, getting our email uploaded and downloaded along with everyone else in the lodge lobby. We walked the shoreline and viewing the outside of the Tribal house. Turns out it was open yesterday but was closed today, darn it anyway. I managed to get one phone call done from the porch of the lodge while swatting mosquitos. The group gathered me when they were done inside and it was time to head to the boats. Glen had left the lodge a bit earlier and had gone down to fuel both our Jet Boat and Nellie.

We headed out of the park. Tonic pulled out at the same time and when I looked back it appeared that I had triplets now. Three ducklings following Magic. Heuy, Duey, and Louie?
Tonic – Bidarka - Nelsea
Along the way we saw a couple whale, one breaching in the distance (bad photo below – too far away), and of course it started raining again, not hard just that annoying dampness type. We kept watching and hoping for a group of whale and bubble netting but no such luck.
Tonic was with us for a while and then split off to go to Swanson Harbor. We continued to Flynn Cove on Chichagof Island. After getting anchored and set for the night Steve, Pete, and Glen went out for a bit of fishing. Glen caught a Halibut! Yippee.
I baked a Blueberry Torte for the Nelsea anniversary dessert, which was served during movie night.
The sky cleared and we had a beautiful and reflective late-night sky with a visible moon, something we have not seen much of this trip.
There were 4 other boats in this protected bay with us.
