Aug 11 – Day 101    Foggy Bay to Prince Rupert

 

The sun is out!  The water inside the bay was flat calm and reflective this morning.  We pulled out about 8:30 under a sunny sky and calm seas. 

 

 

We got into Prince Rupert about 3pm.   There were some lumpy bumpy parts to the days cruise but I survived it.  History has repeated itself and upon crossing over into Canadian waters Glen's Alaskian beard 'sucked back in' as he puts it.  

Our three boats (Nelsea, Bidarka, and Magic) along with Tonic, Queen of the C's, Trillium, and another one that I can't remember the name of all got into PR today.   We cleared customs by phone – easy peasy.   On the marina/harbor master was training a couple of young people about getting boats in and tied up.  It seemed odd to me that he would be training new people this late in the season but then remembered that they basically just opened for business yesterday, when the border opened. The docks are full, which is good to see for the PR economy.  PR is a major port for goods from Canada going to Asia, as from here the route is about 3 days shorter.    

 

We all went to the store – not sure why as we did not need anything.  Oh, wait Glen 'needed' Chocolate milk.  LOL.  We walked around town a bit and then back to the boats.  Had Brian and Steve from Tonic over for Decktails and dinner, then we all sat there and talked until midnight (11pm in our brains – time zone change).  It was great to sit and talk about things we did in AK and how to solve the world's problems.   We did not come up with any good solid answers on the world's problems, other than to stay on a boat somewhere remote.
