July 23 – Day 82 Short Finger Bay to Windfall Island
Walked the beach to get our legs moving. This beach has very interesting rocks. One side they are all flat and slate like, some small and some very large. On the other side they are from very small to very large but more boulder shaped, and of many different colors and stone types – granite, quarts, slate, etc…. Mary found one that looks like a jaw bone with teeth in it, and a bunch of small tooth sized and shaped 'tooth rocks'. Those will be fun to take back to Mary's dental office. Steve of course found some special 'yard art' rocks. Shawn has an eye for rocks, an found a few special ones; so he clearly takes after me in that department. I found one that looks like an Orca's dorsal fin breaking the surface of the water.
Headed out towards the other side of Seymour Canal and could not find a good anchorage spot after trying a few places so continued on ending up anchoring across from Pack Creek Bear viewing area. We had tried to get permits for at least Shawn, Josh, and Kimberly to go to Pack Creek but when we called a month ago, they were booked solid for the summer. There were bears in site of our anchorage so all ended up good.
