Day 27 – June 11   Spitfire Anchorage to Rait Narrows Cove

Up at 6am this morning; yep I slept in.   The SUN IS OUT and there is blue sky, and very little wind.    Maybe I should wake everyone up and we should test the ‘outside’ route to see what the waves look like.  We all want to leave this little anchorage, but at least half of us (the ladies) don’t want to deal with high seas, things flying around inside the boats, or the need for ‘seasick bracelets’ or buckets.   

Why check just go so about 9:30 am we headed out.   Everyone tied down anything that would move, but it turned out to be not that bad if you agree that 4-5 foot rollers are ok, at least it’s a little better when it’s a following sea. We cruised up behind Piddington Island but our cruise director (Glen) forgot to remind us to look for the pictographs that are supposed to be along the Campbell Island shoreline.

Arrived at Rait Narrows Cove and set the anchor.  Tom decided it was time to test out some fishing gear and off he went. He returned in a couple hours but no fish.

It was 58 degrees out so not much interest in a sight seeing trip, oh wow, a flicker of sun, oh no some sprinkles, oh wow, a flicker of sun, oh no its gone. How in the heck do I plan what’s next or what to wear?  Standard attire for Glen is shorts, t-shirt and bare feet.  Me being a bit smarter …. Long pants, long sleeve shirt, down vest, and if going outside a Nano Puff jacket, and of course socks and shoes.

 

During the afternoon, groups watched videos on ‘how to catch Halibut’, read, napped, played cribbage, and other activities.

 

Evening – Tom and  Chris came over for another movie night …. Keeping fingers crossed for a better movie tonight.   Nope it was another loser.
