Day 24 - June 8th - Adams Harbor to Bremner Bay

Day 24 – June 8th  -  Adams Harbor to Bremner Bay

On the way over yesterday, Tom had discovered that his bilge water level in the bow hold was significantly growing, he emptied it and shortly thereafter it was filled again. So, this morning we (Glen, Steve and Tom) investigated the problem options. He had been out of the water only a week or so before we left so he knew there was not a hull issue. There were raw water heater hoses, an anchor locker drain hose and the bilge pump exit hose. We ran the engines, we ran the generator, turned on the heater and found no leaks. Next was an open water test run and what we discovered was that at cruising speed the bilge pump thru hull was 1 foot under the bow wave and when surfing down the larger swells the extra pressure forced water backwards into the bilge pump hose and was filling the hold. At some point Tom had installed a shut off valve in the line and the fix was to make sure it was closed when cruising through larger seas.  Another lesson learned.

Took a jet boat excursion into the lagoon.  It was huge.  Very little wildlife …. Just a couple birds and a few sea lions.  The weather held out and it stopped raining long enough for our excursion.  But once we were back it started raining again.

Sea lion trying to look like a rock.  You can’t fool us!

Apparently Willard felt left out of the boat repair/investigation game so on the way back from the lagoon he stopped and had Steve check something out.

Steve’s post excursion hair style,

no gel needed totally incrusted with salt

No luck with crabbing in this anchorage.  The chicken bait looked just like it did when it was put down, only now with a little salt brine.

I had two conference calls for NSP today so that kept me busy.   It also got me out of cooking dinner.  Although I did provide Berry Pie, which I had picked up at a farmers market a few days ago.  Chris made fresh French bread (my recipe), and Diane made her famous Spaghetti Sauce, which is to die for, so much for watching what I’m eating.  She made a huge pot full but at the end of dinner there was only about three cups left.  Apparently everyone was hungry.

After dinner a few of us gathered on Magic for movie night.   By the way it is still raining.
