June 27 - Appleton Cove
The sun is shining again! We are headed up to Appleton Cove today, and likely will do a bit of fishing along the way.
Critters and other sightings today – 2 whale, several porpoise, salmon jumping (but not into our boat), one large beached fishing boat (been there over 5 years per Jim), remains of an old dock and warf – likely where a cannery was years ago.
Some of the boats caught some fish – cod, halibut, and snapper, but Mr. Glen only caught two small cod which became crab bait.
On the beach near a popular fishing spot. Likely not so much anymore for the fisherman from this boat.
Jim and Gary went to a different bay saying that there were not crab in Appleton Cove.
We anchored up in Appleton cove and enjoyed the evening. Note there were 26 crab pots in the Cove when we arrived so something told us that there must be crab. The pots were put out, checked – a few keepers, and relocated for an overnight soak.
