July 21 – Hoonah to Port Frederick
Left Hoonah before noon.
Good news we finally got our Glacier Bay permits changed to the dates we wanted. Now Sea Life and Magic with crew will be going into Glacier Bay for four days from 7/23-7/26, then will head to Juneau.
Nice cruise today didn’t go very far. Theoretically we passed by the ‘Alaskan Bush People’s’ homestead. But we could not identify anything.
Once anchored up …. with 6 boats together again, we headed out in different directions some fishing, some putting crab pots down, some exploring, some sitting on the deck with beverages, and some photographing a bear on the beach.
Totem Profile Rock …. We named it.
This bear was very skittish and seemed nervous about the boats in the water (we were not that close) and some other noise it kept hearing from the shore side. It was not very big and I suspect that it was young and maybe was ‘sent away from home’ by its mother this summer.
