July 15 – Porcupine Bay

This crossing was not so fun for me …. Definitely not Liz water.   We anchored in a protected part of the bay with a waterfall close by.  Nice place.   I was ‘resting’ for most of the afternoon.

 

White Sulfur Hot Springs – at 7pm Jim took a group of us over to the Hot Springs (about 2 miles from our moorage) in Sea Eagle.  Glen, Chris, and Pete went in Magic’s dinghy.  The hot springs were great.   The construction project we saw starting in 2013 is complete.   They not only made the cabin (forest service rental cabin) wheel chair accessible but also build a new cabin over one of the hot springs pools, complete with dressing room.   Beautifully done.  They covered one inside wall with the boards from the prior pool shelter which had names and dates carved into them.  The new walls were already filling up with names.    There had been a group of fisherman and their families over there earlier in the day (Glen and crew had gone over to check it out), who had a fire in the fire pit.  They left the fire going for us.  We all used both the inside and the outside hot tubs.

 

 

That is not a hangman’s noose, it is a swing.   Pete is testing the water before making the plunge.  Steve and Jim were out in Sea Eagle (in window) as our taxi, with meter running.
