May 28 – Walker Bay
By 6am the Grizzlies were out on the shoreline eating grass. The momma and 3 yearling cubs.
About 9 am Steve and Pete went out to check pots. Pete had put down both a crab and prawn pot last night. Harvest – Zero Prawn. But Pete is now the crab King! 25+ crab (had trouble counting them); all male. End result one very large bucket of crab …. approx. 18 keepers. There will be a crab processing party on Spirit Bear sometime today.
Jim tried to do a fly over with is drone for bear viewing, but apparently the bear were not told about drones with cameras and were a bit shy, as they ran into the woods and did not come back out for quite a few hours.
The day was spent with bear watching, pot checking, and a long dinghy ride up to the end of the next finger. Lots of waterfalls, and two great beach/meadow areas which were prime for possible bear viewing. But no bear found. By late afternoon there were many more prawn and crab aboard the group. Steve cooked up all the crab, and then several bear came back out about dinner time so we got a more photos.
New Seafood options

Just another good day in paradise.
