June 7   Mable Bay

As I type this it is 6:45 am, I’ve been up for an hour or so (back to my normal up early self), no one else is up yet that I can see.  It is going to be another beautiful sunny day. 

Latest update – Heard that the latest estimates on the cruise ship incident damage is $4 million to the boat and $6 million to the dock.   Ouch!

We left Hessa Island and cruised along – saw one whale in the distance, and lots of Rock – Water – and Trees.   

 

 

Not everyone travels the same course thru the small islands, in this case Glen took the narrow channel.  This photo is of Sea Life in the wider channel.   Different views for different routes.

 

 

Young Eagle.   No white head until they are about 2 years old.

 

 

Sometimes treasure is found … i.e. this float was on shore in the narrow channel.  I maintained Magic’s position while Glen and Nicole went treasure hunting.

 

 

 

 

 

We ended up in Maple Bay, yep another nice place to drop the hook (anchor).  We anchored and tied to shore in the now normal configuration.  Left to Right: Sea Eagle, Sea Jay, Spirit Bear, Magic Moment, Sea Life, Noon Balloon with Nooner behind, Nelsea with Nellie Behind, Miner’s Debt, and No Debt.  All dinghies are down and tied astern.    

 

The Fisherman and women went out for a couple hours.   Fish Score (kept):   Robert – 48” (over 50 lb) Halibut, Bryan – 30 lb Halibut, Steve – 1 Cabazon.

Robert is still in the lead as ‘best catcher’.  

REMEMBER THEY CALL IT FISHING NOT CATCHING!

 

Took the daily dinghy exploration adventure.  Glen read about a waterfall “around the corner” so off we went – 3 dinghies and 2 small boats.  On the way out we saw a single Humpback whale cruising along.  Not close enough for any good photos, but hey we saw it.  

 

We started out and once beyond the protection of the island the wind was blowing so there was a significant amount of wind chop.  Thomas’ and Jung’s turned back about mid trip.  Eventually we reached the destination (several miles from our starting point), and guess what ….  Due to the high tide the waterfall looked more like a small set of rapids at an inlet.   The return trip to ‘home base’ was not quite as bad as the wind was now behind us.  

It was a beautiful warm sunny day.  Shorts, skorts and short sleeves or sleeveless were the standard attire.  Sunscreen was a must.   Happy Hour(s) was held on the top of Sea Life …. ‘the outdoor party place’.   Jim had the drone out for a flight and flew over the group.  Being evening, Gary and Steve decided to bring out the ‘moon’ a bit early for the drone.  Jim later said that he was not filming yet so no ‘moons’ were on the video.  

 

 

 

About 8pm everyone dispersed to where ever they were eating dinner, most on their own boats.   The Magic crew had Halibut, this time the it was grilled with Lemon and Dill – very good, and served with Avocado and steamed broccoli.  Well actually Nicole and I had that, Glen had a bowl of Chili …. he apparently can’t eat fish two nights in a row.

 

After dinner Nicole and Glen went over to Sea Life for a game or two of Cribbage.  I stayed back to do some reading and writing.
