June 14 – Fishegg Bay

We pulled out of Craig about 4pm headed for Fishegg Bay just outside of Craig.  

Nat and Linda fly into Craig about 5:30pm and Glen needs to stay near Craig for a few hours of testing his new dinghy motor.  Yep he found a new motor (70 HP) while shopping in Craig and spent most of today with the mechanics getting the motor and new electronics mounted on ‘Little Magic’ or ‘Poof’ or ‘Magic Minute’ or whatever we’re calling the dinghy these days.  ‘Splash’ just doesn’t sound appropriate anymore.  

The Colliers came in and Glen picked them up.  They will be staying on Nelsea for about 10 days and it will be fun to have them with the group.  The last time we were here (Fishegg Bay) three years ago Nat went swimming at this spot.  He was not thinking that would be a good idea tonight.

 

During the evening Glen was out riding around like a little kid in his new toy.  He had to keep the speed down to below 2,000 rpm about 6 knots for the first hour and then got to speed up to varying speeds below 4,000 rpm – about 20 knots.  After 2 hours he got to speed up again this time for short bits to full speed.  He topped out at 36 knots at 5,600 rpm.   Then he came back to Magic for the night.  He has determined that they need to change the prop to one size smaller which will give him more rpm and 2 additional knots.   He takes it back to the shop in the morning.

 

After dinner we had movie night on Magic.
