June 8 Hetta Inlet
Of course I was up early again. The plan for today is for an early fishing trip (8 am) and then full departure at 10am headed for Hetta Bay.
Seafood Count – Tom 107 Prawn, 0 fish, Glen a 42 lb Halibut, Robert a 50+ lb Halibut, Bryan a 30’ish lb Halibut, Steve and Diane both got Red Snapper, Michelle and Nicole got a boat ride, Pete and Gary also got boat rides.
Headed out a bit later than planned due to the requisite fish photos and cleaning. Processing for freezing will be done while underway. Nicole is also planning to do some baking today – Gluten-Free Cheese It’s.
The Armada leaving the bay.
Next stop Hetta Inlet. More fishing: Steve & Michelle – 40ish Halibut, Nicole – an unknown Cod, blah blah blah.
Jim had engine trouble on Sea Eagle while coming in last night, and so several of the guys were over there trying to figure out what happened, why, and how to fix it. He lost power in one engine, and then could not get the second one out of gear. Also could not shut engine off, and had no steering. There was a fuse problem that they fixed ….. those pesky fuses (remember Tom’s issue earlier in the trip). The end result was that Sea Jay left the group right after dinner heading back to Ketchikan for boat repairs. They and their guests – Robert and Janie Rath fly home on the 13th for a quick trip to see their granddaughter graduate from High School coming back up on the 15th. Their hope is that the boat can be repaired and ready to go again on the 15th.

My unknown cod appears to have been a pacific cod.
