June 9th – Day 40 Craig
View just outside of Craig
Very foggy when we got up. Did some chores including putting crab pots down, and then headed into town for supplies. Went to the cute gift shop …. it has moved (since 2016) and is larger now. Full of interesting items, mostly locally made. No purchases today, however.
Back to the boats. The guys went to pull crab pots – no luck again. I had another conference call, and Michelle and Jane were catching up …. Reading and making phone calls.
Going out to dinner tonight in town. Couldn't get into the Klalock Fireweed Lodge for dinner as they were filled up for tonight. Too bad that place is amazingly good. Went to dinner at the Dockside Café. A couple sitting at the next table made a comment about our group as we were deciding who was sitting where. I turned and said it sometimes a tough decision. We passed the normal hellos, and then I noticed the logo on the man's shirt and said 'that's where we wanted to go to dinner but they were full'. The guy said yep it is full, we couldn't be there tonight either and we are the owners. Then we recognized them as the couple photographed in the Fireweed Lodge cookbook which we have on board from our last visit. We chatted some more about boats, our trip, the lodge etc.. The lodge is booked for the season and even with the Covid situation was fully booked after early June last year too. When people want to fish they want to fish. They told us to call them next time we were in town and they would get us into the lodge for dinner. We told them we do that for sure as we loved their place. They told us that we could even come by one of our small boats and park at their dock.
We had a nice dinner at the café and went back to the boats.

Fun to catch up on your adventures. Dinner at the Fireweed for my 75th in 2016. Saw you in Soda Bay on the AIS locator app and wonder if that Halibut Nose point in that area was aptly named....apparantly not
