June 7 – Day 38 Port San Antonio - Part 1

June 7 – Day 38   Port San Antonio  - Part 1

Morning view 6:30am
The early morning flat water in the bay brought opportunities for reflective photos.

It is not raining, sprinkling a bit but not raining.

We all went for a beach walk and found lots of flotsam.   This beach is loaded with fish nets of every size and color, ropes/lines, and lots of plastic.  Old broken buckets, dish soap, and bleach bottles, jugs, tubs/baskets, fishing floats (plastic kind and broken), etc…  Michelle found a nice cutting board that with a little soap/water and bleach will be able to be put back into service.   Steve decided that some dark gray/black heavy fishing net will look great in his yard, so he gathered a piece or two.   I found some giant barnacle shells just waiting to become pieces of art.

We weren't on the beach long as the tide was going to be 'great for fishing' about noon so the fisher-people had to get ready and out to that 'perfect spot'.  I stayed back to get some things done and watch the boats.   Okay really I stayed back because fishing is not my thing, especially in bumpy water.   I'm the cooker not the catcher.

Where's the fish????  The first boat of fisher-people came back after about 2 ½ hours.  So much for quiet and solitude.  Steve and Michelle the true fisher-people stayed out a bit longer and brought a fish back for dinner.  It wasn't the Halibut that they were all looking for but it was a fish.  Nothing better than fresh grilled Ling Cod.

The afternoon was nice and I could actually see blue sky.  Glen was up for more sightseeing and beach walking, so that we did.  Wow, what a beach, lots of stuff.  Ball floats, big and small ones, some broken but a few fully intact.  Lots of the small oblong floats, tons of ropes/lines of all kinds of colors and sizes, and every kind and color of net you could want.  A few commercial crab/prawn style floats.  Lots of wood and plastic buckets.  Miscellaneous shoes, no pairs.  One yellow sandal and a jug from floor cleaner both with Asian writing on them.  Not one but two construction type hard hats.    The beaches here truly gather a lot of stuff; likely most from fishing boats.   Some things appear to have traveled a very long way.

Steve likes logs, rope/line and nets, he was in heaven with this one.

Michelle said NO!!!!

Glen keeps looking for a straw on the beach.  Is this a straw or a Mammoth Tusk?

Close up of symbols.    Can anyone translate this?
