June 8th – Day 39 San Antonio to Craig
I woke up at 3:30 am and saw light coming through the windows. Yep, morning is coming. It was light enough outside to take photos. There was a very heavy dew on the decks and kayaks.
Same view 3:30am
Went back to bed. When I got up for the day at 6am there was bright sunshine, and no wind. Yippee summer may be coming.
We are headed into Craig today to resupply, primarily with fresh vegetables. Not sure if we will stay in Craig or one of the bays nearby. We plan to be in and around this area for the next week and a half. I have meetings (conference calls) during this time (need good cell access), and the flotilla will be having some crew 'aka guest' changes.
But for today, everyone is looking forward to seeing a town, a store, people, and getting some internet and cell phone time.
The route today took us through Bucareli Bay an area which is open to the ocean, but the waters were very calm.
We spotted one Humpback whale along the way.
He was up then down, not to be seen again. But I got a photo.
We got into Craig, picked up some fuel, and headed back out to get anchored about a mile from town in Fish Egg Bay, just in time for my conference call. We have stayed in this bay before. It is protected and close to town.
The group will go into town tomorrow early enough to spend time there, do the shopping and be back to the motherships in time for my next conference call. The plan is also to try to find a place to go out to dinner in town.
