May 11 – Bell Island to Blunden Harbor
Calm morning off Bell Island. Willard and Diane called first thing to say Happy Birthday and see if we were joining them today. The group decided it was not a good day to do the crossing so they are staying in Blunden Harbor another night. Turns out they have cell service there so we got moving and joined them. They also have crab. Between the 4 of them they got about 2 dozen keepers last night. So dinner tonight will be fresh CRAB.
Spoke to Patrick and Miriam as we crossed over to Blunden Harbor. They were headed out today hoping to get as far as they could today. Wished them safe travels. We’ll likely see them again in a few days. Our plan is to head out tomorrow and shoot for Ocean Falls. We’ve never stopped there and think it is about time to explore that town. Gail Stewart from the YC was raised there but says that it is not at all the same now.
Reached Blunden Harbor and rafted up to the group – The Roche Armada. Felt like we were at home again. This is a great group to travel with.
Spent the afternoon on a fun dinghy ride to exploring the area. Picked up another logging chain for the ‘yard art’ collection. I took/participated in two conference calls, then we had happy hour followed by a Crab and Fettucine Birthday Dinner. Glen even baked a Birthday cake.
I went to bed early (sick – something I ate?), but the rest of the crew partied and planned tomorrows adventure.
