Teakerne Arm

Day 96 – August 14

We woke up to sunshine and warm skies this morning. Once we were all up we started putting things away and pulled anchor for departure. On the way out of the area we stopped to pull the pots. The critters won yet another round. Go Figure!

When we went through Hole in the wall, the tide had just changed to going with us so it was a piece of cake.

An observation – There are many many more sailboats in this area; and with their sails up.

Either this trip has done us wonders or we’ve found the fountain of youth.

We anchored just around the corner from the waterfall in Teakerne Arm. If you haven’t been here it’s a place to put on your ‘I need to go there’ list. The waterfall is large and beautiful. There is a trail from a dinghy dock up over the hill, across the rock ledge by the top of the waterfall and then over to the lake that feeds the falls. It’s a perfect day, in the high 80’s.

We walked up to the lake above the falls and the place looked a day at the local lake. There were tons of people there.

After swimming we hiked back down and dinghied over to the falls and played in the pools of water at the bottom of the falls.

Tom thought he was 16 again and climbed the wall and jumped off. Glen just walked up under the waterfall and got a good shower. There was no water conservation valve on that faucet!

After the water fun we went back to the big boats. On the way Tom somehow broke the seat in his dinghy; he broke the weld no less. So the guys now had a project to keep them busy for awhile.

The salt water temperature was reported at 72 degrees. Tom said it was like bath water. My response to him was ‘well I guess you take colder baths than I do’. It was cool but refreshing. The water at the bottom of the falls was quite comfortable once you got into it.

The evening remained quite warm. At 8:30pm it was 86 degrees with a slight warm breeze.

We’ve decided that we want to start our vacation now. After all summer has finally caught up with us.
