Day 83 – August 1
We woke up to gray skies but no rain this morning. The guys went out to pull the crab and shrimp pots. Today’s take – Miner 0 crab and 4 shrimp, Dodge 2 keeper crab and 6 shrimp.
We headed out and all of the guys tried their hand at fishing while we headed to Echo Bay. Hum Glen, I don’t think you are supposed to be sitting in a leisure chair reading a book, driving the boat and fishing at the same time. Maybe that’s why you haven’t had good luck with fishing. Tom and Buck didn’t have any better luck. End result = 0 fish.
We headed into Echo Bay under a sunny sky and heard people calling our names as we went by. Yep, it was Ray and Susan Biggs, Seventh Wave and Richard and Merlyn Symms, Prime Time. They were tied across the dock from each other. We got ourselves tied up across the way and I changed into shorts. Yes I thought it was time my legs saw some sunshine.
Tom, Chris, Buck, and Lisa went to the organized Echo Bay social hour. Glen and I skipped it in favor of continuing our visit with our RHYC friends. They have been following our blog which was fun to hear. It was fun catching up on what they’ve done, what we’ve done, and what has been happening in town (read that Seattle) this summer. We saw the Miner’s and crew heading back to their boat so we decided we’d better head back as it was about dinner time.
This is our first time in Echo Bay but I can already tell it won’t be our last. What a fun place. It was actually pretty warm this afternoon and early evening. There was a very pretty sunset tonight; another photo op.

Have you tried using a prop as a lure to catch a salmon?
Nope not on this trip. But the salmon Jo and Joe got on their prop many years ago was tasty and has made for years of great story telling.
