Day 81 – July 30
Magic waiting for the Debt's arrival
No room in the bay. Double Bay on Hanson Island was full. It appears that a fish camp operation has taken over most of the bay. So finding no place to drop anchor, we moved on ending up in a bay off Mound Island. Nice bay and very protected. It must be a popular spot as there are about a dozen other boats spread out and anchored in here. Mostly singles but a couple doubles and one raft of three together. The group of three has two anchors down and two ropes to shore. Hum, are they nervous about something? It appears that several of these boats are from the greater Puget Sound area.
There are quite a few crab pots down, but not ours. Glen says that he’d have to go catch some bait first; and he is not moving very fast in that direction. Funny that he doesn’t seem to feel the need; it must be because he does not like crab.
We had a relaxing and quiet night and morning. I let Glen sleep in, but as usual I was awake early. The sky was gray and the bay very quiet when I got up. I did some computer work and watched the bay slowly wake up. As people got up they loaded into their toys for adventures. Some headed out fishing, others paddled around in kayaks, dinghies; nobody moving very fast.
When Glen finally got up he spent his morning reading. We put the dinghy down and spent the afternoon exploring. Tom called while we were out and said he was 20 minutes away, so we headed back to Magic. Forty-five minutes later we called Tom to see if he got lost or forgot where our rendezvous spot was. He said no, he was just going slowly through the islands. Another about 20 minutes later we saw him entering at the end of the bay.
Herring Splash!
Buck and Lisa the new Debt crew were welcomed to the adventure. It sounds like Buck knows a thing or two about fishing. Either that or he’s spent some time in a tackle shop recently. Maybe he can teach the other guys how to catch something.
