Day 18 – May 29
Left Meyers Chuck about 11:00am headed for Blashke Island. Water isn’t too bad this morning but not as calm as yesterday. Sunny overcast weather. Saw one whale. Think it was a Fin Back but not sure. No photo as I could not move fast enough and it only surfaced a couple times.
Poked out nose into Coffman Cove just to see what was there. A fishing lodge, a small community complete with ferry dock, and seaplane float.
Arrived at the Blashkee island (more like islands) and poked our nose around a bit, and then dropped anchor. Dropped the dinghies and away we went on our daily adventure. This is an interesting place with many turns and dead ends. One could get lost pretty easily; luckily Glen has a GPS mapping system on the dinghy, so we found our way back. Well we got back but we basically went around the long way. It was nice and calm inside the islands but the outside was a bit bumpy for us girls. The boys are in trouble tonight. At the entrance to the area where we are anchored there are quite a few Eagles around, like maybe 10 of them. Mostly Bald Eagles but a couple Golden’s as well. Took pictures, but nothing overly special.
