Day 12 - May 27 ---- Headed to Surge Narrows and the Octopus Islands

Day 12 – May 27 ----   Headed to Surge Narrows and the Octopus Islands

We had a very protected anchorage, with three sides protected by high rock walls.    In talking to the other two they had a rougher night on the dock with wind and waves.  So we made the right decision to find more protection to anchor.

We had a very lazy day, well some of us did.   The guys installed a new saltwater pump on Nelsea.  They also went out to harvest the prawn.   Ok the prawn count was not great but better than zero.   Dodge – zip,  Nelson – 9, and Miner – 30+.    About 3:15 we decided it was time to head out so we could reach the narrows at slack tide for a smooth entry.    Transit through the narrows was uneventful, with water running about 2 knots against us.

Glen found a spot and after a bit of twisting and turning we got Magic and Nelsea anchored and tied to shore and all five boats rafted together.

Looks like Linda is in the running for an RHYC screw up award.   One of Kotare’s fenders came loose and was floating around behind our raft.    Tom has photo evidence.

We had our first 10 person dinner on Nelsea for this trip.
