Day 1 - May 16th Seattle to La Conner

Day 1 – May 16th   Seattle to La Conner

As we left the house there were two eagles flying around the back yard.  Hum, maybe they were looking for one of those pesky rabbits that are eating my plants.   Happy hunting!

The boat fully loaded for the adventure; we left our moorage about 11:30 am under sunny skies.  There was an Eagle sitting on the breakwater near the ‘skeleton pirate’ at Shilshole as we pulled out.  It flapped it’s wings as if to say ‘Bye, have a nice day’.   No camera handy …. need to fix that.

Where to go today, was yet to be determined, but not planning a long run.   Started out with winds from the south and pretty calm seas.   Wind changed to from the north and brought some rougher water.  Took a couple splashes on the windshield.   Humm, determined that new windshield wipers came with  blade covers which needed to be removed for the blades to actually wipe the windows.

We decided to go to La Conner for the night and stayed at the Swinomish YC reciprocal dock.  After my conference call concluded, we went into town and found a pub along the water for dinner.

Critter count for the day – 3 bald eagles, 2 seal, 2 sea otters, and a variety of seabirds.
