Bishop to Lowe Inlet

May 22 - Bishop to Lowe Inlet
Sky is sunny water pretty much flat calm so a perfect day for cruising.    Were able to get cell coverage for a little and made a few calls.
Reflections got to anchorage in Lowe inlet first so they picked the spot, dropped their anchor and set the stern line.  Nelsea went in second closely followed by Magic.  4:00 pm we dropped our anchor and tied to Reflections.   Miner's Debt and Panacea a bit behind as they stopped in Hartley Bay for fuel.    5:00 pm the fuelers are pulling into the bay.
A bit later four more boats came into the bay, making a total of 9 boats for the night. Two of which were in the 110 ft range.  One out of Seattle (CJewel - Seattle YC), and one out of Yakima (Calliope).  Still plenty of room for more.    Still plenty of room for more. This is a great bay.
Glen and I took a dinghy ride around the bay.  The tide was too low to get to the Lowe Budget Inn, but we could see it from the water.  Spotted two black bear.  One on the far shore, and then one on the near shore by the piling; where we saw one in 2008.   I wasn't lucky enough to get good photos of either.  We'll watch for them again in the morning.   We missed it but apparently while Glen and I cruising the bay, the first bear came back out to the beach and stood up and scratched his back on a tree.  Some in the group saw this with Binoculars but Tom and Chris were closer in their dinghy and attempted to get photos.  If they got a good shot, I'm sure it will be posted to their blog.

After dinner, at about 8:30pm Nat came over to see if Glen could come out and play.  He suggested that a group take a walk over to the lake.  Glen was the only taker for this idea and he and Nat left armed with an air horn, whistle, and a camera ... hopefully they don't walk into a bear picnic.   If they do we'll likely see some good photos on the camera if it is ever found.
The hikers made it back.  They said that the hike was similar to the one in Codville.  Trail kept taking you back to the waterfall.   Apparently they gave up trying to get to the lake itself.
Movie .... This is becoming a pattern.   Watched Lincoln tonight.  Good movie, well done.
Plan is to be up and out by 9am in the morning.

Miss fire on blog posting ---- this one got stuck .....  added here to get it back in order where it belongs.

May 23 - Lowe to Baker Inlet

Uneventful cruise up the channel and turned into Baker Inlet.  Narrow entry with some side current but very doable. Once inside you are in a very large protected bay.  Tom picked the spot and dropped his anchor and tied to shore.  Dave went in next then Steve (with anchor down), Glen, and Nat (with anchor down), stern tied to shore on both ends.
