Kasaan to Kitkun

6/1 - Kasaan Bay to Kitkun

After one of Glen's big breakfasts, Pete and Dean pulled the crab pot - 7 crab (1 keeper).    It was now time for a dinghy ride to explore the inner bay etc.... and do a bit of bear hunting.  Inner bay was quite large and protected.  Would make a great place to hide out from bad weather; provided you enter and exit on at least a 1/2 tide.  There was a small house/cabin in there that looked to be in pretty good shape.  Also the remains of what appeared to be a former logging area, with the remains of a dock (piling), and lots of rusty machinery on shore.  Wildlife count 1 eagle, 1 deer, 1 mink, 0 bear. It started raining so went back to the boat pulled anchor and headed out about 11am.  Miner's and Mehlum' s still not answering our radio calls.

Found them, they can't hide from us for long!    They are now anchored in Kitkun Bay. 

In route we saw Humpback whales playing; rotten luck - camera failure and did not get the photos that I took.  Dean and Linda might have gotten some.     About that time Tom and Chris come out in 'No Debt', they saw the whales and made a run past us and to the whales.  The whales were playing so Tom and Chris should have gotten some good photos. 

Kitkun is a VERY secluded bay.  You travel back through this winding passage and end up in this beautiful bay.  Grassy meadows sloping shorelines and trees all around and the water reflection flat calm.

Crab and prawn pots deployed.  Glen got out the fishing gear and Pete and Dean headed out for some hunter time.  While they were out I baked 2 loafs of French bread.  They came back with three fish; a rock cod, and two green lings.  I'll get them cooked up for them tomorrow.  Tom had caught about 80 Prawn last night.   We had a big joint dinner of Prawn pasta, salad, and of course fresh bread.   We had a great evening visiting and then watching a movie.
