Juneau ---- Happy 4th ------ Fireworks

July 3 - Juneau
Today will be a busy day.  Up early head out to Juneau hoping to arrive about 10am.   Robert and Debbie Schroeder are joining our crew today.   They actually arrived in Juneau late last night and stayed in a hotel.   We'll do a Costco run in Juneau and some tourist stuff.   The fireworks show starts at 12:01 am on July 4th so we'll be up late.
All 5 boats (19 people) had dinner on Magic tonight.  Maryann made a mean spaghetti.   She cooked all day while the rest of us went to Costco etc... to restock.   Having 5 boats to restock meant a lot of people in cabs ..... not a good idea, so we all chipped in and rented a car for the day.   Glen and Tom were the 'official' drivers and took groups up to Costco, Fred Meyer, and the bottle store, etc...   We had the car for 24 hrs so this worked out great.

Pulled into Juneau at 3pm and stayed at the IVF (intermediate vessel float) right near the cruise ships.  Great slip assignment for the fireworks show that started at 00:01am on July 4th and lasted about 25 minutes.   One of the best shows we've seen.
The group rented a car so everyone took turns going up to Costco and Fred Meyer to re-provision, in quantity.
Oh almost forgot ---  TOBA, another RHYC boat is docked in the harbor; the boat directly in front of us to be exact.   But it appears that the Wilson's have gone away for a few days.   I hope to remember to leave them a note before we pull out of town.

July 4 - Juneau
Went into town today to watch the parade and then walk around.  Also out to lunch.   The streets were also full of cruise ship visitors so it was quite lively.  In the afternoon Glen took a group over to Douglas Island to check out the 4th festivities over there.  Maryann stayed back to get some reading etc... done and pack up.  She left us this evening and went to a hotel for the night.  We leave early in the morning and she flys out in the afternoon.  Staying in the hotel will allow her to sleep in and be close to the airport tomorrow.   I also stayed back to try to get some ski patrol work done.  Not having internet and cell service has been a huge pain.   Not only for not being able to get the work done that I want to get done but also because it has meant that I have not been able to do much blog posting.   I'm writing and taking photos but posting has been an almost nonexistent process.
