Shearwater to Alexander

Woke up to clearing skies, then rain, then clear again.  I worked on the internet again early this morning. Talked to Nicole.   Looks like she has gotten the E-Burg house rented, which is a good thing.   Called and left messages for Shawn, we spoke to him last night but after Glen checked his cell phone messages, needed to call Shawn again.  Left Shearwater about 9:30 am, headed for Alexander Inlet.  About a 6 hour run today, the first part was bumpy so it was hunker down and nap time for me.

In the afternoon the weather and water was much nicer.  I baked the first 4 loaves of bread for the trip, while underway.   Tried a new recipe; haven't eaten it yet but I'm not overly excited.  Didn't rise as much as I think it should have and looks like it might be a bit heavy.  Yeast? Flour? Pilot house should have been warm enough but who knows.   Oh well there will be many more loaves baked before this summer is over. 

Boats at anchor with a stern tie to shore.   Shrimp and Crab pots have been deployed so now it's time to relax.  The tide is coming up so we should be able to get into the inner lagoon by dinghy this evening.  We wouldn't want to miss an exploring opportunity.  The boys are out playing somewhere in the dinghies, Michelle and I just sitting relaxing, working on future blog postings, and reading magazines. 

We heard a weather forecast for the next 4 days and it appears that a storm/wind system will be kicking up between Tuesday and Thursday with 20-40 knot winds.   We will slow our migration north a bit as we will not attempt Dixon Entrance with winds like that.   The Jung's appear to be two days ahead of us now but they likely will not make it across Dixon before the storm hits either.  We heard from Jim Matheson briefly today by phone (he called us), they were in Ketchikan and are now in route to Wrangle.  Everything has gone well for them including shrimp and crabbing.

Reflections watermaker is not working, and Panacea is a bit low.   The water at Shearwater had a 'boil' notice up so no one filled their tanks.   Magic had plenty of water so we transferred water to both Reflections and Panacea.   We'll run our watermaker to refill out own tanks in a day or two.  

Dinner on Reflections tonight --- Paella (spicy rice, chicken, clams, shrimp, artichoke, peppers, tomatoes), salad, fresh bread, cake for dessert later.    After dinner we went by small boat over to the inlet at the end of the bay.  Walked a short distance over to the lake.  There were trees down across the opening and blocking Glen from going upstream in the dinghy.  Back to Magic for another movie night - Argo tonight.  Good movie.
