Wrangle to Whaletail Cove

Day 21 – June 1

Helped Miner’s off the dock for their trip home. They are moving their boat to another part of the marina and then meeting the dog sitter and heading for the airport. We will miss them this week and look forward to having them back next Saturday.

It’s time to untie our own lines and leave Wrangle. We’re traveling slowly along the shoreline just looking. Wrangle is about 14 miles long, but very narrow. Locals told us that when they talk to each other about where they live they just say something like at 7 or 10 and everyone knows that they live at the 7th or 10th mile.

We ended up in Whaletail Cove for the evening and night. It is a quite and very private cove. We had to go in via this narrow and shallow passageway, which opened up to a beautiful cove. Of course it would not have been so shallow if we’d gone in on a higher tide. Set anchor in 25 feet of water. At one point during the very early morning hours I woke up and came up to look around. We were land locked with a row of rocks across the passage but we still had 15 feet of water under us. Went back to bed hoping the tide was coming in.
