Day 30 – June 9
Woke up to sunshine, and blue sky!!!! Pulled anchor at 11:45 am and headed for El Capitan Pass, it is a narrow passage that has been dredged at sometime in a couple areas. The depth sounder said 9.5 feet at the lowest point and it is near low tide. Cruised slowly, saw a few Eagles feeding and then about 20 otters swimming in a group. By the way what do you call a group of swimming otters? Took some photos of the otters. Narrow passage, water flat, and the sun is still shinning, can’t get much better.
Anchored in Devil Fish Bay. Went for a dinghy ride around the bay and up the river as far as we could go which was not very far. Grass along the shore shows signs of animal traffic, and napping areas. There must be a big waterfall around here based on the sound of crashing water, but we didn’t find it. There is still snow in the hills just above us.
Late in the evening the water was reflectively flat and the moon out over the hillside just behind us. Beautiful! Tried to take a couple photos, but they didn’t do it justice.
