July 29 – Taku
Some slept in some didn’t. After breakfast we just read etc…. a lazy morning. One of the Alaskan Dream Cruises (small cruise ship) vessels came in and brought 70 guests ashore to walk around and check out the old cannery site. I spoke to some of the passengers and crew. They have 70 guests on board this week, traveling from Sitka to Juneau, visiting Tracey Arm, Glacier Bay, along the way. They were having a great time.
There likely will be a hike today and apparently plans for a Winnie roast on the beach at one of the Forest Service cabins tonight.
Some of our group went on a hike
Several more boats joined us on the dock. A group of young people came and hauled several loads of stuff up to the forest service cabin. They were having a gathering of what appeared to be about 12 people and at least 8 dogs. It is an annual gathering of this group of friends, complete with fireworks at 10:30pm.
Based on the cabin’s firepit being used we put tables out on the dock and had our dinner party there. Almost immediately after dessert it started raining. Whew, glad we weren’t at the cabin. Once back inside we had a movie night on Magic and then off to bed.
