 Sept 5 – Day 125    To Pots Lagoon

 

We left Echo Bay under bluish sky, cool air, and smooth water headed for Pots Lagoon.

Ended up in Duck Cove, Port Elizabeth.  Found a mooring buoy and decided to use it instead of dropping our anchor.  

 

Crab pot out. Don’t know if it will work, bunches of commercial pots already here.

Glen broke and popped out the window on jet boat (my window no less) …… He ‘hit a tree branch’.  This gave him a project, with Willards help ….   Tape up the glass and try to reinsert the window into the window frame/front of the boat.  It took a-while but they were successful.   Winter project will be to replace the window, oh and I want a windshield wiper added to my side for all those rainy days.    

Earlier in the trip on one of our explorations, I suggested that we install airbags.

I like watching the different birds, especially when they try to take off and fly.  They often need a running start.  This guy was having a bit of trouble, must have had a big lunch.  His buddy never made it into the air.

A new record --- 4 beaches, 4 black bear within 2 hours.   The first one was clearly not afraid or worried about us.  The other three were more skittish and bolted for the woods.   We went fairly close to shore, cut the engine and just drifted watching.  It stayed on the beach rolling over rocks looking for crunchy things to eat, walked on the logs, sat down and scratched itself, walked some more, then laid down and rolled around, and drug itself around in the damp seaweed and other vegetation.  It kept an eye on us and turned to look for or at us every few steps but made no attempt to leave the beach area.  We watched for a good half hour.  It was a hoot to watch.  Shortly thereafter we saw 3 more, each on its own beach.

Either has an itch or is trying to cool off belly, only the bear really knows for sure.

This one did not stick around very long.  No photos of #3 or #4, as they were too far away.

 

Back to the boats for appetizers on the back deck, what a great evening.
