July 9 – Day 70 ---  Nelsea heads into Glacier Bay

Still raining.   Nelsea and crew are headed into Glacier Bay today.  Their entrance permit starts a day before the rest of us, but we all will exit on the same day.   Our hope had been to get a last minute (someone left the bay) permit to get Magic and Bidarka in today, but no luck.   Glacier bay only allows 25 boats in the bay at any one time.  We were sort of hoping that with the recent gray and damp/wet weather some people might have said they were done with Glacier Bay early.  It didn’t work out that way.

 

About 10am the rain stopped and the sky tried to clear.  By 10:30 it was raining again.  A misty soaking rain. 

We spent the rest of the damp day just relaxing, reading, working on computer or boat projects.  It was a lazy day.   Ended it with dinner and a movie per the normal routine.
